Collect signatures in the room, on your own device.
Not every signature happens at a distance. In a client meeting, on a site visit or during an onboarding session, the people who need to sign are right in front of you. In-person signing lets you hand them your device and finish the paperwork before anyone leaves.
What in-person signing is
In-person signing is for when you and the signers are in the same place. Instead of emailing a signing link, you open the document on your own laptop, tablet or phone and hand it to each signer in turn.
Each signer reviews the document, fills in their fields and signs. The device then goes to the next signer or back to you. SignAndGo records each signer separately in the audit trail, with the time of each signature. There is no printing, no scanning and no waiting for email replies, and the signed document is ready as soon as the last person finishes.
When it makes sense
Client meetings
Present the agreement, go through the terms together and collect signatures before the meeting ends. For example, an advisor meets a new client, reviews the service agreement with them and has it signed on a tablet before the client leaves.
Site visits
Construction, inspection and maintenance teams can get sign-off at the job site, with no paper forms to lose or damage. An inspector finishes a report on site and the property owner signs the acknowledgment on the inspector's tablet.
Onboarding sessions
New employees or tenants complete their paperwork in one sitting. HR walks a new hire through the employment agreement and confidentiality agreement and has both signed during orientation.
Trade shows and events
Sign an exhibitor agreement or a partnership agreement while the conversation is still fresh, with a copy emailed to both sides straight away.
How it works
- Prepare the document. Upload it and add fields for each signer. You can do this ahead of time or on the spot.
- Choose in-person signing. Select it when you add your recipients, so SignAndGo knows the signers are with you and does not email them a link.
- Hand over the device. Open the signing session. The first signer reviews the document, completes their fields and signs, then passes the device to the next signer.
- Finish and share. When everyone has signed, the envelope is complete and each party receives a copy by email with the completion certificate.
What is recorded
- The time of each step, including when the document was opened and when each signature was applied.
- Each signer separately, so the audit trail tells apart several people who signed on the same device.
- A completion certificate and verification ID, so the finished document can be checked later.
Tips for signing in person
- Use a tablet if you can. A larger screen is a more natural surface for signing and makes the whole document easier to read.
- Prepare documents in advance. Set up every field before the meeting so the signing goes smoothly.
- Check your connection. A stable internet connection gives the fastest experience, so prepare the document before you head somewhere with poor coverage.
- Give people time to read. Let each signer review the document properly before they sign.
- Confirm the copies arrived. Each party is emailed a copy, so check that everyone has theirs before you wrap up.
Frequently asked questions
- Can several people sign on the same device?
- Yes. Each signer completes their fields in turn and passes the device on, and each is recorded separately in the audit trail.
- Do signers need an account to sign in person?
- No. You open the document on your device and hand it to each signer. They do not need to create an account.
- Does in-person signing send the signers a link?
- No. Choosing in-person signing tells SignAndGo the signers are with you, so no signing link is emailed. Each party receives the finished copy by email once everyone has signed.
- What kind of device can I use?
- Your own laptop, tablet or phone. A tablet is often the most comfortable for signers.
